Jan 2010
Happy New Year friends! Big thanks to everyone that came out to our shows and listened to our records in 2009! The Xmas benefit show for the Salvation Army at Rebels Rock in December was a HUGE success! We raised a good wad of cash for a great cause and we had one helluva time doin' it! Special thanks and big ups go out to Alfie Smith and Robin Lee for torching the place with a set each of great music. Me and Boom Boom have got a good part of 2010 booked up with local gigs so check out the Shows page and come out and play! The master plan says that we will be recording a new record in 2010 as well...so stay tuned. PEACE. June ' 09 Hello Friends! Big thanks to everyone who has joined the Facebook page and to those who continue to drag their asses out to our shows! We're having an absolute blast bangin' out the tunes like crazed monkeys in suits! Boom Boom Gould and I are working on some new songs and aiming for hitting the studio in the fall. Some of the new stuff will gradually start seeping into the live shows in the mean time no doubt. My trusted web man Dragon Don has posted a bunch of new content on the site so surf around and check it out. There are some new photos taken by my old friend Steve Rupcic. He has a keen eye and an old soul and has been trying to make me look good through the lens since this whole strange trip started. There are some new videos too, shot by our road manager/sound man/driver/guitar tech/stage security/videographer Paul Bottos. I probably left out a few things my dear old friend but you are indispensable! There are a couple of new shows posted with a couple more to come. PEACE. Jan '09 Happy New Year Friends! 2008 was a wonderful year, we released Down By Desire, we played a bunch of wicked fun shows, and played for and with a bunch of cool folks! I don't know what's in store for us in 2009 but I'm sure that whatever happens we will have a blast, these are the good old days! We've got some new gigs booked for the new year so check out the Shows page and come out and play with us. Our fourth Beatle Paul and our web man DragonDon started a fan page on Facebook so if you're into that check it out and sign up. PEACE. June 08 Hello Friends The CD release party for our new record "Down By Desire" was a smashing success! It was great to see our friends and fans come out and shower us with gobs of love and support. The CD is for sale at Cheapies downtown and Picks n' Sticks on Locke St and at our live shows too! (Also online at CDBaby.com and iTunes) As of this moment we are #12 on the CFMU top 30 and #13 on the C101 top 30! Graham Rockingham at The Spec and Ric Taylor of Viewmag wrote a couple of nice pieces on the band, check them out on the press page. We've got some new shows added to the Shows page too, with more to come , so come and check us out. PEACE. Jan 08 Hello Friends and Happy New Year! 2007 was an amazing year, we played a lot of shows and had a great time doin' it. We met some very cool folks along the way, fans and other muscians. Love Mound from Arizona comes immediately to mind. We shared a bill at NXNE, check them out, they are KILLER. The new album "Down By Desire" is in the final stages of post production. MM LeBlanc, our trusty harmonica and vocal powerhouse, has done yeoman's work producing and taking the record through the mixing stage. We are looking at a spring release followed shortly thereafter by world domination, and shortly after that the end times and finally the apocalypse. Check out the Shows page for new gigs and please stay tuned. PEACE. Sept. 07 Hello Friends! Summer is slowly fading, Fall will soon be here. We're working on the mixes for the new disc...looking to do a record release at the end of November if all goes well.. Other than that things have been pretty quiet in Famous Framus land. In July I had the pleasure of being a guest on Ray Lyell's radio show Just about the Music on 92.9 Jayne FM. I'll be posting an Mp3 of the show on the website shortly for those who missed it (myself included). We've got some new gigs booked for the fall so check the shows page and come see us let it all hang out! PEACE May 07 Howdy
Friends!
Summer
is almost upon us.The warm slow death of the sun that is so
irresistible, like a light socket to a key!
Great
news in the land of Famous Framus Band! We got invited to play
a showcase at NXNE! Fucken way cool eh?!
We are
at Black Bull on Queen St. Friday June 8th. @ 9:00 PM. We're
playing with some great bands from all over North America.
Also we are almost finished recording the new album, to be
released in the early fall with an accompanying DVD shot by the boys at
Altered Egos. My trusty right-hand man, Harmonica
Monster/Vocal God, MM Leblanc is at the helm producing the record, and
doing a bang up aces high job too! It's gonna be sick
friends, SICK! Check the shows page, we've got a full
schedule before winding down for the summer and to finish the post
production on the new album.
PEACE.
Mar. 07 Happy Spring Folks! Looks like we've made it through the fat part of winter in The Great White North. Only the fading remnants remain. The Band is heading into the studio to record the follow up to Eight Ball. We are going to record it ourselves at M.M.'s studio in downtown Hammer, with Mitch on the dials. Don, Tom, and Elvis from Altered Egos Productions are going to be following us around in the studio and at some shows filming a DVD for release with the new disc in Sept. We've got some new shows booked for Spring/Early Summer with more to come so stay tuned to the Shows page and come check us out live. There are some new videos and photos on the Band Page and some new vids on the Video Page so surf on! PEACE. Dec. 06 Howdy high guys and gals! What a year 2006 has been. We put out a record, played a shitload of shows, and had a blast doin' it! Along the way we have met some great people. There is some new content on the site. Check out the new links, band page pics, and videos (especially the video from the Circus Room in Kitchener). Every time we play that town, be it at Circus Room or The Boathouse, the people are great and we have an absolute blast! We just played a new club in Burlington, The Legendary Red Rooster Vintage Cafe, I gotta say that everything about and everyone involved in the place is 100% top-notch and aces galore! PEACE. Oct. 06 Hey Hey Hey! Big ups and thanks to JP and everyone else at the Hamilton Music Scene Awards for the nomination of our record "Eight Ball" for Blues Recording of the Year. It's a real honor, the show and festival are on the weekend of Nov. 17/18/19th. Last year was a real buzz and I expect another great weekend this year. I'm sad to hear that Lou Molinaro will be leaving
his post as talent booker for the Legendary Corktown, a Hamilton live
original music institution. On a personal level and as an artist I have
an immense amount of love for Lou. He has given me much support and
encouragement along my journey. As a music fan, the shows that Lou has
been putting together the last few years have been absolutely mind
blowing amazing. When
the new owners of the Cork took over we all held out hope that they
wouldn't fuck it up because we knew Lou was still there. Now all hope
is lost when I hear those two dreaded words mentioned in the same
sentence as The Corktown... COVER BANDS !?!?!? FUCK!!! June 06 Big thanks to everyone that's been coming to our
shows and to everyone that's been pickin' up our disc. (You
can still pick our record "EIGHT BALL" at Cheapies and at Reigning
Sound in downtown Hamilton, or at our shows.) We've been having a blast takin' our show on the
road. Folks are diggin' it and we've met some great people. Playing
with The Brown Hornets in London, at The Salt Lounge, was a highlight.
These guys are a T.O. band that has to be seen. 100% KILLER! PEACE. Apr. 06 Howdy. Things are getting crazy. Crazy
wicked good. We've got a ton of shows coming up, including the
big CD release party @ Absinthe. Having Mr. Tim Gibbons on the
bill is a great big honor ! I am a FAN! Going out to see the
Trouble Boys and stumbling home covered in beer and sweat, was one of
my staple rituals in the good old/ bad old days. The new record FAMOUS FRAMUS BAND "Eight Ball" will of course be available to buy at our shows. There are also copies for sale at Cheapies, Screamin' Mimi's, and Jimmy Vapid's Reigning Sound. Stay tuned to the shows page for updates. PEACE. Feb. 06 Howdy. The record is done. FAMOUS FRAMUS BAND "Eightball"! Eight
hard tunes done in a one day monster recording session with Bubba at
Scorpion Studios in Simcoe. We didn't know what we would get goin' in
but we knew we had something by the time we left. The record release
will be in April, and we're in the process of booking a spring tour.
"Eightball" up the 401! (Windsor to Montreal). Stay tuned. PEACE. December '05 Howdy. What a year 2005 has been! Big finish! Last months' Hamilton Music Scene Festival and Awards weekend was a real blast. I met a ton of cool artists and music people and I really felt like I was part of the Hamilton music community. We (Famous Framus Band) played a bunch of shows this fall and got tighter and tighter. We've just finished a new recording to be released in the early 2006 with more shows to follow. Playing music with Dave and Mich has been pure BUZZ and having them add their own touches to my songs has made the songs that much better. PEACE. October/November 05 Howdy Folks. I've put a band together. Famous Framus Band. I've got Mich Leblanc on Blues Harp and Vocal gymnastics, played through a (sick!) Echo Plex/ Tube Amp set-up like a mad scientist. Dave Gould (monster percussionist!) is playing Drums and beating the hell out of anything he can reach. I've been playing my Strat, and the National Resonator through an overdrive pedal/Tube Amp. set-up. We're getting a Punktry/Blues feel, and it's a blast! Come check us out. Alsoa huge honor to be nominated for Blues Album of the year in the Hamilton Music Scene Awards (for "Slim"). Just being mentioned along side Hamilton icons Trickbag, Harrison Kennedy, and Sonny Del Rio & Richard Newell, blows my mind! Wow! PEACE. Septermber 05 The video page is up and running. The videos and pics are all thanks to Paul (my friend/road manager/photographer/roadie). He's been with me since before the beginning. When I'm playing a show and I look out and see him singing along, I know all is right in the universe. I've been booking more local shows, so stay tuned. As for touring plans, I'm thinking Ontario tour in winter '06 and Maritime tour in Spring '06. PEACE. August 05 Welcome to FamousFramus.com. Big thanks to Jess and Ian and Rob of course, for hooking me up with all things Web and Domain. This year to date has been an eventful one artistically, starting with the January release of the EP Troubled Mind. The April Blues weekend was without doubt the musical pinnacle of The Staircase and being a part of it, and a witness to it, was truly inspiring. The creative period that followed led to the writing and recording of the album Slim (dedicated to the great Watermelon Slim). The June Release of Slim led us right into Three Chords and The Truth! Straight from the Hammer! The Tour,13 shows in 18 days weaving our way across western Canada out to the coast, me and Chief top down in “Goldie” his 69 roadrunner convertible. What a buzz it was seeing the country, and being allowed to play my own original music across Canada gave me an immense feeling of accomplishment. Now back in the Hammer I’m writing for a late fall / winter recording project and I’m kicking some ideas around with Ian for a DVD project. I’m also in the process of firming up some local show dates and working on booking a fall eastern Canadian tour. Stay tuned for updates… PEACE. |
